How to troubleshoot no sound from computer speaker

1.      If no sound is coming from the computer speakers, before going to advanced troubleshooting steps, let us check some basic things:
Are the speakers plugged into the correct computer port?
Are the speakers plugged into a live power source?
        Are the speakers turned on?
Is the volume turned up loud enough on the speakers?
Is the volume turned up loud enough on the computer?

2.      If the above things are being checked and if you still have the issue, please follow the below steps:
Go to your desktop. Click Start > Control Panel > Sounds and Audio Devices > Volume tab. If the "Mute" box is checked, un-check it. In "Device Volume" make sure that your volume level is set to a comfortable volume level for your speakers.

If everything is grayed out in the  volume tab, you either do not have a playback device installed or your drivers are corrupted and need to be replaced. Drivers help hardware and software function together. Try this fix for reinstalling drivers. Click Start > Right-click "My Computer" > select "Properties" from the drop-down menu > Click the "Hardware" tab and then click the "Device Manager" button. Device Manager will open.

Look for either a red X or a yellow question mark listed under "Sound, Video, and Game Controllers" If you have a red X, right click the device with the x and select "Enable" from the pop-up menu. Test your sound at this point. If you have a yellow question mark, right click the device, click "Properties" from the pop-up menu, and then click the "Driver" tab on the window that appears. Now, click the button "Roll Back Driver" to go back to the previous drivers that were functioning correctly. Restart your computer at the prompt.

If you have followed all the above steps and still have the issue, you can uninstall and reinstall the device. Right click the device and select "Uninstall" from the pop-up menu. Restart your computer. Windows will automatically detect and install your audio device upon boot-up.
