Windows 7 comes with several exciting new features, but the Windows 7 FTP is missing in it.. This should not be a point of concern for the Windows 7 user, because it still allows you to enjoy this feature by following few simple steps.
You have to install the FTP server in your computer after installing Windows 7 without the need to manage the FTP using third party software. Microsoft’s new operating system offers a very simple method of enabling the software from “Control Panel” directly. After installing the FTP service on your Windows 7 computer, access the IIS management console from Administrative tools.
Given below are the steps to enable the FTP feature in Windows 7:
- Click on Start -> My Computer-> Map network drive.
- Click on the link named “Connect to a Web site that you can use to store your documents and pictures” in the window of Map Network Drive.
- You have to just follow the steps prompted by the wizard as the wizard will proceed to add a new network location.
- Note: Click on “Choose a custom network location” when the wizard demands for the choice of where to create this network connection.
- Type your FTP address for instance ftp://ftp.yoursitename.com. Follow the steps for creating a username and password of your choice.
You can enable the FTP feature in Windows 7 by following the above steps.
