Although Windows 7 installation on the virtual PC is pretty simplified, one will need to create a virtual machine to run the Windows.

Supposing that you have already created a virtual machine, lets get started right away with the installation process.

Step 1 Select the windows 7 virtual machine from the list of available machines and click the Start button. You will now have to insert the Windows 7 installation DVD when you see a windows popping up.

Step 2 Open the CD Menu and choose Use Physical Device. For users with a .ISO file, you will have to choose Capture ISO image and click on the appropriate file.

Step 3 Now if this action does not automatically yield and fails to load the installation, reboot the virtual machine by clicking on Reset from the Action menu. This should initiate the installation process.

Step 4 Now simply follow the screen instructions and prompts to install the Windows 7. It will ask for your basic information like language preference, user name, time zone etc. to be uploaded. Respond positively and also agree to the Windows 7 agreement license and enter your product key when asked for. The installation is complete.

Step 5 Now prepare to launch the Windows 7 on your Virtual PC by selecting the virtual machine that had been created earlier. It consumes little space without affecting the operating system that is already running in your computer. It makes use of only the RAM and the hard disk allocated for while creating the virtual machine.
