In Vista or XP when you open Windows Live Messenger, the icon that indicates the status immediately goes into the tray. But in Windows 7, Windows Live Messenger icon appears only in the new taskbar.
When one closes the window of Windows Live Messenger through the cross, the icon remains in the Taskbar.
* Click Start, All Programs, click Windows Live
* On the right-click Windows Live Messenger, click on Properties
* In the Compatibility tab, check the box Run this program in compatibility mode and select Windows Vista in the drop down menu , then click Apply.
* Collapse full Windows Live Messenger.
Now, when Windows Live Messenger will be executed, the status icon will appear in the notification area.
