Microsoft Office 2011 for Mac users announced

Microsoft has recently announced that the they are about to launch Microsoft office 2011 for the Mac users, in the Mac expo. Even after the lack of details about Microsoft office 2011 there was a huge but positive buzz among the people. Most of the people like me were worried about the outlook competence of the Office 2011, I was relieved when I came to know that they have also announced email compatibility, which will support .PST files too. Predicted launch of the office is, by the start of the holiday season of 2010.

The main motto behind the launch of the office was something beyond the compatibility factor, they wanted to make sure that the presentations , documents, spreadsheets created by the Mac users on one platform should work efficiently on other platform. As, Microsoft Mac team knows that only few of the mac users use Windows.

Why am I too excited about the Office 2011 is because of the features, such as:

a) It will be possible for the Mac users to collaborate, share files and documents with other Mac and Windows users, using the office web app and share point.

b) As in Google docs you can share the file with others, same feature will be there in the new office. You just need to create a word file on your laptop and share files with others. You just need to right click and a pop up will show you all the people currently working on the document, you can now send message to all of the them.

c) The newly designed ribbon is even more easy to use, it takes advantage of Apple’s Core Animation system. Rearranging the tabs becomes more smother due to this. If clicked on any tab it expands into popovers and won't effect the document you are working on.

d) Outlook in office 2011, provides you with the facility to install your old emails from windows on to Mac. It also supports the IRM( Information Right Management), which allows the sender the option to make discretion among the receivers of the mail and set the access rights for them. This feature is embedded keeping the cross platform Mac users in mind.

These are only few of the feature which had created a huge buzz around, there are too many others to be unleashed yet. I think they would have really worked hard on data security too. But, I can't understand, how the data recovery software companies will cope up with it, as I've heard of mac data recovery software, windows data recovery software, mac file recovery software, file recovery software for windows, Pst recovery for windows, but will it be possible to make a data recovery software to cope up with both the windows and the Mac Operating systems at a time? Till the time Office 2011 is not released questions like these and many others will keep on arising, what we can do is just wait till the years end
