Today when i was upgrading from Vista SP1 to windows 7 RTM, the computer installed fails with the message "This version of Windows could not be installed, Your previous version of Windows has been restored, and you can continue to use it."
First, you cannot update to Windows 7 from vista sp1.But You can update to Windows 7 from vista sp2.
So you should update Vista to Sp2 and uninstall the programs it lists as incompatible. Then start to in-place Upgrade from vista
You had better do a clean install..
