How to repair a corrupt Outlook pst or ost file

Have you found that your Outlook takes forever to open or opens in safe mode or recovery every time, or gives you errors, fails to send? Then you need to run the INBOX REPAIR TOOL.

With the INBOX REPAIR TOOL you can recover folders and items from a corrupted Personal Folders (.pst) file or offline folder (.ost) file in Microsoft Outlook 2002, Outlook 2003, and Outlook 2007.

I find it best to create a new pst/ost file first so you can use your outlook to send and receive while you fix your corrupt file.

You will need to run Scanpst.exe, which is a hidden file that is installed automatically when you install Windows. You can search for it by name showing hidden files when you do. You will need to know where your pst/ost file is so find that path out before you start.

Outlook sending attachements errors with TrendMicro

All of a sudden my client could not send large attachments. Got this error:
Sending' reported error (0x800CCC0B) : 'Unknown Error 0x800CCC0B'Task - Sending' reported error (0x8004210B) : 'The operation timed out waiting for a response from the sending (SMTP)

Outlook 2007 was installed along with Trend Micro Internet Security. It was timing out on the send. Found it to be the scanning of large attachments was the issue so I turned off the out going scanning and it worked without a hitch.

If you don't want to disable this, then try increasing your server timeout in advanced settings of your email accounts. To do this go to the top toolbar, tools, account settings, double click the email account you wish to adjust, more settings, advanced.
See example:

Another timeout option could be due to your internet connection.
Run "ping -n 25 www.yahoo.com" to see how many packets you lose. If the percentage goes above 4%, it can start to be noticeable in web browsers and may cause some e-mail clients to timeout.
At this point you might want to have your IT professional look at this or call your ISP and let them know what is happening.

Outlook error, freezing

We could not check the message you are trying to open for viruses because the virus check engine reported an error. To open the unchecked message check OK.

I fixed this by simply disabling all the add-ins and is working fine now.

This was occuring in Outlook 2003.
