HP wants you to print extra, which is not accurately surprising given the company’s money-making ink and toner business. Fortunately, it has launched an HP App Studio with some very useful printer software that very well may convince you to click that print button more often. The downside? The apps only work with the very cool Printer Support Photosmart Premium with TouchSmart Web all-in-one printer, which is available starting this week.
HP announced the printer, which connects to your computer and to the Web via Wi-Fi, in late June with a cast of app partners that included USA Today, Google, Fandango, Coupons.com, DreamWorks Animation, Nickelodeon, Web Sudoku, and Weathernews. These buddies worked with HP to create apps that facilitate you to efficiently and easily print maps, Web pages, movie tickets, coupons, photo albums, and more.
Today HP officially opened its App Studio, and announced new partnerships with Disney.com and DisneyFamily.com for pallor pages and craft projects; CNET.com for well-laid-out printing of technology invention reviews; CBS News for text versions of the TV program 60 Minutes; and the photo-sharing site Flickr for photo printing.
The apps are free of charge and are formed by select developers working in concert with HP , hp printer repair is more easy than dell printer repair . The company says it will provide a Software Developer Kit (SDK) in early 2010 that will open up creation of apps to a wider variety of developers.

6. Select “Local printer attached to this computer” for printer connected directly to your PC.
7. Now click on “Automatically detect and install Plug and Play printer” option (in case you don’t have any information about the make and model of your printer).
8. Click on Next.
9. Select a Printer Port from drop-down menu present where the printer is connected or you can choose to create a new port.
10. Click on Next.
11. Select manufacturer of your printer from the list of manufacturers available and then choose the model of you printer.
12. Click on Next.
13. If you have the latest driver on CD/DVD disc then you should click on Have a Disk button to select the specified printer driver.
14. If the correct are selected then Windows will automatically install the files on your computer.
15. You will see a Printer icon in the Printer and Faxes section in Control Panel after the successful installation of the printer on your computer.
You can further make changes to the printer setting and feature by selecting the properties of the printer and selecting the desired settings.

• Make sure that the printer’s power cable is not loose is on-line. If you are using a manual printer sharing device, make sure the switch is set to activate the right printer otherwise you will need printer repair.
• Turn it off and on again to reinitialize any internal settings that may have gone astray.
• Use the printer's own self-test, according to the manufacturer's suggestion. If it fails, you have verified that the problem is within the printer. If the print head is not moving at all, the transport motor may have failed.
• If the printer passes the self-test, try a test print using the Print Screen capability within DOS. If the Print Screen fails, you know the problem is in the relationship between the printer and the computer. Inspect the cable and the cable connections. Replacing the cable with a known good cable is worth trying since cables are so frequently the source of printer problems. Cables can fail with broken wires, loose or broken pins, or incorrect pin-outs.
• The message "out of paper" is sometimes erroneously reported when there is plenty of paper, and can indicate a physical problem with the printer.
• If the Print Screen succeeds, the problem may be with your application or its configuration. For example, your application may be set up to direct output to a file instead of the printer, or you might be directing the output to the wrong communications port.

How to Change the Ink Cartridges for the HP 5510
- Turn on your HP 5510 printer. If the printer doesn't have paper in it, load the paper tray with paper.
- Grasp the handle of the carriage access door at the front of the printer and lift up slowly until the door rests in an open position and the carriage moves into view.
- Push down gently on the top front of the ink cartridge to unlock it. Pull the cartridge carefully from the slot and set it aside for disposal.
- Remove your replacement ink cartridge from its packaging. Grasp the pink tab on the cartridge. Pull it and the attached tape carefully from the copper contacts and ink nozzles on the back and bottom of the cartridge.
- Hold the ink cartridge in front of its slot--black (right) or tricolor (left)--with the label facing up and the copper contacts facing the empty slot.
- Shift the cartridge in your hand so that the back of the cartridge tilts up slightly and the cartridge front tilts down.
- Slide the tilted ink cartridge into the empty cartridge slot and then push it in until you feel it snap into place.
- Replace the other cartridge if needed. When finished, lower the carriage access door and wait for a print alignment page to print. If a page doesn't print automatically, wait for an alignment message on your printer's display and then press the "OK" button to print the page.
- Open the scanner lid and place the alignment page face down on the scanner with the top of the page edge-to-edge with the left side and front of the scanner glass. Close the lid and push the "OK" button. Wait for the "Alignment Complete" message, dispose of the alignment page and then begin printing as desired.

Sometimes, especially when upgrading your PC, you may need to perform a BIOS upgrade in order to update your system to accept a new hardware part or to fix a bug. For the average Joe, this procedure is quite obscure. In this tutorial we will give step-by-step procedures on how to upgrade your system BIOS.

What is BIOS anyway? BIOS is a program stored inside the ROM memory of your motherboard. There are three programs stored there: BIOS, setup and POST. As they are physically stored in the same memory chip, the majority of users call setup and POST as “BIOS”, even though this is wrong, as they are three distinct programs. BIOS (Basic Input/Output System) teaches the system processor on how to deal with basic things, like how to access the hard disk drive and how to write text on screen. POST (Power On Self Test) is executed whenever you turn your PC on in order to test your system. It is in charge of that memory counting that happens every time your turn your PC on. And setup is that program that you call by pressing Del during POST (i.e., during memory counting) that is used to configure your motherboard.
So “BIOS upgrade” really means an upgrade on the programs stored on the motherboard ROM memory. Even though the procedure name is “BIOS upgrade”, you actually upgrade all three programs (BIOS, POST and setup).
The way to update the motherboard ROM depends on the type of memory chip used in your PC. There are two types of ROM chips used in PCs, Mask-ROM (only on very old motherboards and that cannot be updated by software) and Flash-ROM (on almost all motherboards, which is able to be updated by software). In this tutorial we will cover Flash-ROM.
If you have a very old motherboard (manufactured more than 10 years ago) as shown in the figure below that uses a Mask-ROM chip BIOS upgrade is only possible by replacing the chip with a new one containing the latest BIOS version. This chip can be bought on the motherboard manufacturer's web site or at http://www.unicore.com.

Installing a scanner on newer PCs is pretty straight-forward. If the scanner is a USB device, you'll need to install the software CD that came with the scanner. These will normally be one or two disks and a few others that usually only prove to be trial software or other programs you do not need. Be wary of installing these third-party CDs, as you likely will never use them and they tend to want to take over the way media is handled on your computer.
First, unpack the scanner from the box. Make sure you have all of the attachments and especially the quick setup instructions if they were in the box. You can assemble the scanner and set if off to the side. You can plug the power cable in, but do not plug the USB cable into the computer.
Boot up the computer and load the scanner software disk into the CD ROM drive. If it does not launch automatically, you can navigate to it through My Computer and click the setup.exe file. If there are additional disks for your scanner that need to be loaded, you will be prompted for them.
Once the software has been installed, you can then attach the USB cable to the computer. Windows should find the new scanner and load the drivers for it automatically.
Troubleshooting Scanner Problems:
If your scanner had worked in the past but has stopped functioning, you can usually unplug the scanner, then go to Add / Remove Programs in the Control Panel and remove the scanning software. Then you can repeat the installation process above.
If the scanner never worked, you may have a problem with the USB port . Check another device to see if it works in that port.

- The next thing you will need is a router. You need to make sure that both your computer's wireless network and the router are 802.11 compliant. There is 802.11b (standard) and also 802.11g (if you are printing a large amount of pages). D-Link and Linksys are two companies (of many) that make wireless routers. A wireless router will cost you around $50 - $90.
- Now you need to setup your wireless router to your computer. D-link software usually will help you with this process.
- Once your computer recognizes your wireless router you are ready to go.
The next thing you will need is a wireless printer. I have the Lexmark X4550. Is it a very good printer, copier and scanner. The setup is very easy as well.
5. Once your printer software is installed onto your computer, do the following:
XP/VISTA DIRECTIONS:
- Start
- Control panel
- Go to hardware and sound ----> printers (just printers in XP)
- On the toolbar click add a printer
- Click the box, Add a network, wireless or bluetooth printer.
- Finally your computer will search for the printer and you can then click on it and you are done.
Note: - Make sure that your printer software is installed onto all of the computer in your wireless network. this will allow you to print from any computer in your house.
